Euromodel 99/004 - Friedrich Wilhelm zu Pferde, 17th Century German Frigate kit 1:47

Cenni Storici:
La fregata " Friedrich Wilhelm zu Pferde " fu costruita dal 1660 al 1661 presso il cantiere del principato a Pillau da1 Maestro G. C. Peckelhering. La sua lunghezza era pari a 125piedi, la larghezza a 32 piedi e la portata era di circa 900 tonnellate. La nave era predisposta per un armamento di 50-60 cannoni ed aveva un equipaggio di 250 uomini. La fregata ha fatto diversi viaggi; nel 1685 da Pillau a Emden, nel settembre del 1691 da Emden alle isole Shetland sotto la guida del capitano Jean Le Sage come accompagnatrice della " Derfflinger ". Il 25 luglio 1692 la fregata salpò da Emden insieme ad una flotta per andare via Scozia ad Arguin ed in Guinea. Per via essa e la fregata " Salamander " si scontrarono con navi francesi e le vinsero. A quel tempo, infatti, il Brandeburgo era in guerra con la Francia. Nella notte dal 30 al 31 ottobre del 1692 tre navi da guerra francesi attaccarono la fregata. Una delle navi francesi era equipaggiata con 70 cannoni. Al primo scontro fu ucciso il capitano brandeburghese Jean Le Sage e la fregata fu catturata dai francesi che la incendiarono.

History :
The "Friedrich Wilhelm zu Pferde", a German frigate, was built between 1660 and 1661 in the shipyard of Pillau Princpautè by Mr. G.C. Peckelhering. It’s length was 125 feet, the width 32 feet and the tonnage about 900 tons. The ship was designed with 50/60 guns and a crew of 250 men. The "Friedrich Wilhelm zu Pferde" made several trips ... in 1685 from Pillau to Emden, in September 1691 from Emden to Shetland Islands under the guide of Captain Jean Le Sage as an escort for the "Derfflinger". On July 25 1692, along with a large fleet, the "Friedrich Wilhelm zu Pferde" sailed from Emden, heading towards Guinea. During the trip it and the "Salamander" won a victory over a French ship. At this time in history, Brandeburg was at war France.
