Il termine flattie (focaccina) indicava, in gergo locale, una imbarcazione tipica della Baia di Chesapeake (costa centro-orientale degli Stati Uniti). Raggiunse l'apice di diffusione negli anni 1880-1890, in particolare, presso i pescatori di colore.
